Arrived in Regina

Yesterday was the big day - Saffron and I hopped on a plane and moved to Regina.

After days of packing (thank you to everyone who helped me!), I spent the night with my family, and got a ride to the airport.

I had a suitcase and a huge duffel bag to check in. When the WestJet gal asked how much the duffel bag weighs, Dad turned to me and asked, "I'm not sure, how much did Jim weigh?" That got the trip started on a fun note. Soon after, Saffron and I said our goodbyes and boarded the plane.

Last drive from Middleton

 Leaving the Fundy coast behind.

Arriving in Toronto. That lower layer of cloud is smog.

The flight from Halifax to Toronto was relaxing.  I chatted a bit with fellow passenger Jean-Pascal, who originally hails from southern Nova Scotia. His band, Grand Dérangement has a gig tonight in Saskatoon. They are an Acadian group with a Celtic groove, and a pretty sweet sound, as I've discovered from their website. Check them out here.

From Toronto to Saskatoon was one of those flights - complete with crying baby, broken tv, turbulence, and an energetic toddler sitting beside me who kept poking my arm to see if I'd notice. His mother tried to keep him calm by feeding him cheesies and chocolate... one of those things that make you go 'hmmm'.  Yay for headphones and a good book!

Arriving in Regina. There is so much standing water
left from the recent floods that mosquitoes are rampant.

My awesome friend Lee picked me up from the airport. He also helped me find a place to rent, a room from his friends John and April, who are getting married today! Congratulations you two!!!

To end a great day, we drove to Wascana Park and watched the Canada Day fireworks. What a way to spend my first evening here! I'm looking forward to many more good ones!

 Happy Canada Day!
